Director of Policy
Allison serves as the Director of Policy for the Steans Family Foundation, where she leads a portfolio of policy and ecosystem work across multiple issue areas including education, employment, and community development. In this role, she works to build upon the Foundation’s place-based approach in North Lawndale and North Chicago, addressing local and statewide systemic issues that impede or support the healthy development of individuals and communities.

Prior to joining SFF, Allison worked with Skills for Chicagoland’s Future (Skills), a public-private partnership with a mission of creating demand-driven solutions for employers to get the unemployed and underemployed back to work. Her responsibilities at Skills included policy, operations, strategic partnerships, grants management, national expansion, and program evaluation.

Previously, Allison held roles with the City of Chicago Treasurer’s Office and Civic Consulting Alliance focused on policy, research, and planning. She began her career as a business analyst with Public Consulting Group, providing financial and strategic solutions for state and local governments to optimize public healthcare delivery and outcomes. Allison holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College.

Allison is a 2021 Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow, and is an active member of her community on the northwest side of Chicago, where she lives with her husband and two young sons. Allison loves to travel – she’s visited nearly 30 countries and hopes to make it to over 50 countries someday!
