Managing Director – North Chicago
Evan Westerfield serves as the Managing Director for North Chicago. In that capacity, he leads the Steans Family Foundation investments in North Chicago including initiatives related to early childhood, K-12 education, post-secondary opportunities, and out-of-school time. Prior to joining SFF, Evan served as Chief of External Affairs for North Lawndale College Prep from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, Evan was a Partner at Sidley Austin LLP, where he worked with the Environmental Law Group for 20 years.
Evan graduated from Yale College with a B.A. in English Literature, and received his M.A. in English Literature and J.D. from the University of Chicago. Every day Evan is in the community, he wears a college tie. Because much of his job to help kids go to and succeed in college. But he won’t wear any college’s tie. Only ties from colleges that have a track record of actually graduating most of Black and Brown students who enroll. It is astonishing how few colleges do. He and his wife Colleen are parents to daughters Caitlin and Sophia.
